Traveling Gallery
The Nebraska Heart Gallery features work of local professional photographers. Photographers are paired with waiting children and asked to capture the children’s personalities through their camera. Photographers use that moment of light through the lens to capture the hearts of a family considering adopting an older child. There is a serious need for families to help these children grow and lead happy lives. Today’s waiting children, the focus of this portrait exhibit, are older foster children who are typically the most difficult to place in permanent homes. During the holiday season when most children hope for the latest toys…all these kids want is a family to call their own.
The Heart Gallery concept was developed by Diane Granito in New Mexico and has quickly grown across the country with more than half the States now featuring their own Heart Gallery. The Heart Gallery has been featured on the CBS Today Show, Parade, Women’s World and New York Times and most recently on ABC’s 20/20 show. Child Saving Institute is the organizer of the Nebraska Heart Gallery, which is one of few being run by a non-profit organization.
