Meet the Children

Each of these children is legally available for adoption nationwide.

How to become a Foster Child Adoptive Parent

The children listed on the Nebraska Heart Gallery are all legally available for adoption. Professional photographers volunteer their time and talent so you can see the children’s spirit and spark through their photographs. The featured children fully understand that by posing for the picture, they just might capture the heart of someone who would love to bring them into their lives through adoption. Is that someone you?

Each child is uniquely talented and beautiful and has hidden gifts yet to be discovered. They are unique, yes, but they all have one thing in common—each of them is desperately seeking the family who will take the time to truly get to know them—a family they can call their own.

In order to ensure these children are being placed in safe and secure homes, the State of Nebraska requires that every home become licensed in order to adopt a child from the foster care system. To learn the steps for licensure, visit About Adoption, or download the Foster Adoption Inquiry Packet. For more information, please contact Jessica Kroeker at Child Saving Institute: 402.504.3616 or jkroeker@childsaving.org.

Thank you for visiting the Nebraska Heart Gallery. You really are the best thing that could happen to a foster kid.

Dakota

Dakota, 11, is an engaging and vibrant boy with a zest for life. He is outgoing and loves to get to know new people. A loving boy that enjoys getting hugs and praise, Dakota has a generous heart and wants to please others, but sometimes needs some help with how to do it the best way. Dakota is bright and does well in school once he is focused on a task. He enjoys break dancing and skateboarding and would also love to take karate lessons. His imagination and creativity soars when he plays superheroes. Dakota adores animals and if he could have three wishes, he would wish for a Chihuahua, a mansion and time with his siblings.

Dakota would do best in a family that can offer a lot of love, attention, firm-but-flexible structure, encouragement and reassurance—a family that is nurturing and will accept him for who he is. It is important that Dakota’s relationship with his siblings be supported and encouraged. A family that would be open to providing permanency for both him and his 10-year-old sister would be ideal.
